And one person doesnt survive a bloody encounter with the new enemies. Warning: Spoilers ahead!
The June 3 season premiere of Teen Wolf kicked off a new school year at Beacon Hills High, which meant an influx of all the usual teen tropes: New teachers, new love interests, and of course, new terrifying beasts threatening the lives of Scott (Tyler Posey) and everyone he loves. Really, its just going to be a terrific year.
Lets begin with the Alpha pack, shall we?
Isaac (Daniel Sharman) and his new friend narrowly escaped an attack from the twin terrors Aiden (Max Carver) and Ethan (Charlie Carver), who slow-mo stripped within the episodes first five minutes but when they awoke at the hospital the next day, they found themselves surrounded by more than a few untrustworthy Alpha-nurses.
Thankfully, Derek (Tyler Hoechlin) and his endless supply of sassy one-liners Arent you supposed to be in school? showed up to save Isaac. And, of course, to remind us all about the joys of proper eyebrow grooming.
Isaacs friend, however, wasnt so lucky. She took the entire pack on herself, and although she managed to stay on her feet longer than I expected, they eventually beat her into submission. But not before learning about their gigantic plot: the Alphas leader, Deucalion (Gideon Emery), is going to make Derek kill his own pack!
Animals Gone Wilder
Since the Alpha drama was mostly contained to the hospital this week, the rest of the characters remained blissfully unaware of the looming were-threat, instead focusing on the insanity happening in town: like why all the animals in Beacon Hills were suddenly trying to kill themselves!
Yes, it seemed like all one of Gods creatures had a death hope this week. There was the deer that ran head-first into Lydias (Holland Roden) car; the dozens of birds that flew beak-first into the classroom windows; and all of the animals at the veterinarian, who literally just killed themselves all at once.
Do you think maybe they were trying to say us something? Maybe?
Scott & Allison: The Eternal Struggle
And what would a season premiere be without some major relationship drama? Scott and Allison (Crystal Reed) ended the second season broken up, so things were predictably awkward between them during the premiere, although fans were given a few signs of an impending reconciliation. The awkward run-ins, the adorable note-passing Its obviously these two havent given up on each other.
In fact, Scott and Allison were even scheduling a time to meet up and chat until Scott was suddenly called out of class to assist with the tiny situation at the hospital. (Thanks a lot, Isaac!)
Odds & Ends Worth Mentioning
1. Was anyone else super-amused by the explanation of Jacksons (Colton Haynes) disappearance? Through a bit of forced exposition these things are never easy on TV Allison and Lydia casually explained to the audience that Jacksons dad moved him to London. I know he left the show to be on Arrow, but for the record, Id totally watch Colton upon a London-based Teen Wolf spin-off.
2. Lets be real: Scotts seemingly meaningless tattoo was actually a marriage equality symbol, right? Tell me Im not insane.
3. On that note, did anyone catch the tiny finger-tickle Stiles (Dylan OBrien) gave Scott as he was holding him down? Forget Sterek. Theres an unspoken bromance between Stiles and Scott that I very much enjoy.
